Bells Lookout

Visitors to Bells Lookout will soon have improved facilities from the stunning vantage point everyone loves to look out over the iconic rapids, across the Avon Valley and all the way to the Indian Ocean.

The City of Swan listened to your feedback and ideas on the concept plan for a new lookout, to be built on the former site of the derelict Brigadoon sales office. The proposed design includes a new and improved viewing platform, space for a food and beverage van, landscaping and parking. As part of the City’s work on the Bells Rapids Masterplan, the City will consider trail connections to Bells Lookout.

The State Government has provided over $800,000 to the project. The City undertook community engagement and made modifications to the concept design based on community feedback. The scope of works will be designed to be within the grant allocation.

The old sales office building, which was unable to be repurposed for community use, was demolished.

The City does not intend to spend funds outside of the grant allocation. The scope will be designed to meet the grant funding of $800,000.

The City undertook investigations into the condition of the building, and it was estimated that the required repairs were in the range of $2 million. Therefore the funding would not be sufficient to bring the building up to the required standard.

The proposed concept design is to be located at the current Bells Rapids Park Lookout at 911 Campersic Road, Brigadoon

During the consultation we will take the necessary steps to ensure we are following the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2021
