Local Planning Policies are prepared to provide guidance on specific planning issues affecting new development. They set out general standards that are adopted by Council o establish the official position of Council and the Local Government. Generally, any development seeking to have the standards varied must be advertised and assessed by professional planning officers to ensure the variation will not have a lasting effect on neighbours or the local area. Whenever the policy itself is under review or a new one is being prepared, it must also be advertised to seek comments from the public.
